Follow Your Arrow
As of late I keep having moments of doubting if I am on the right track. Thoughts of am I really pursuing what is meant for me to do. I believe that most of the time I fall back into the thinking I have to people please. Where I have the thoughts of just following what others have set for my “path” or telling what is expected.
When I want to get out of that mindset I listen to one song, Kacey Musgraves’s Follow Your Arrow. If you have not heard it before, the lyrics weave a story to follow where you feel led. That no one can tell you how to live your life. There will be people who judge you or not agree with how you live. Yet that should not stop us. During one of the last verses she sings that we only live once. It is true we are here and have to ability to live a long fulfilled life. We should do what we have the passion for and to have adventures out in the world.
Ultimately I know what I feel called to do and where my focus leads. I can admit there are moments of being lost and looking for the answers. I have over the years worked to quiet those thoughts of going against living my truth It doesn’t mean that the comments of beliefs from others do not pop up from time to time. But I try my best to just breathe and continue with the day. If you ever feel as if too many people are trying to tell you what to do or their expectations are. Say thank you for the input yet you know what is best for you. We can always ask for help along the way but we can create how we want to live and be in the world. If you have the drive to climb Mt. Everest do it. You want to start your own business look into how and pursue it. As Kacey states “follow your arrow wherever it points”.
