The Basics Of Earthing

Ever since a child I was not a fan of wearing shoes and would go barefoot all over. Running without shoes outside is my favorite. It was not until I was older did I learn about earthing to ground myself. Earthing, sometimes called grounding, is when you are simply absorbing natural energy from the earth by standing barefoot outside. This combines two of my favorite things no shoes and the outdoors. I find that this method is good for when I want to connect with myself or nature.

It is a very simple process you can do anywhere outside. Whether that be your backyard, local park, or even the beach! I try to either stand or sit with the soles of my feet directly on the ground. Standing quietly I focus on steady breathing and listen to the sounds around me. I will spend then ten minutes to a half hour till I feel more centered within me.

There have been many benefits researchers have found over the years on earthing. The technique for example can reduce stress/anxiety, improve sleep, helps with boosting immunity and to relive pain in body. Reason be is the earth emits electrical charges that our skin, as conductor, let’s the energy into our system. The earth is sending electrons to clean out the body’s unhealthy energy stuck in us. I find that the earth is recharging my energy battery in a natural way. Earthing helps me feel connected to the present moment if I have been feeling lost or scattered all over. It is one of the many ways I meditate or ground myself. My anxiety quiets when I am only aware of where I am currently and to process slowly what is making me nervous.

I encourage you to go outside when you feel the need to be at peace. Many of us go around without shoes on indoors and outdoors just walking around. For a moment take a deep breath and close your eyes to feel earth giving you what you need to live fully.
