DIY Potpourri
For a while I have been enjoying creating my own decor. In this case, I have been making different kinds of potpourri. Of course you can fill a bowl or pouch full of bark, twigs and pine cones. But one of the recent ways I have been using potpourri, is hanging oiled twigs by a twine from my door or a wall. This in my opinion is a low costing project that you can make all year round. I found the items needed either around or outside in the woods. Below is how you can make one as well!
Supplies:
12 Inch Twine or any string
1 Decent sized stick or broken twigs- I always look for ones on the ground not branches still thriving on trees.
Essential Oil- Find ones that do not destroy furniture or any kind of wood/paint. The oils are easy to find in stores such as grocery or home decor ones as of late.
Scissors -can help if you need to prune the wood pieces or to cut the the string
Directions:
Break down the stick or twigs into equal parts. I was able to break one in to 3 parts.
Then put a few drops of essential oil on your finger to code the wood.
Once dry, line the pieces up and wrap around them a few times and tie it once to secure them. If you are going to hang the piece on the wall for instance, tie the loose ends together in a knot.
It is a simple three steps to create this DIY decor. One suggestion is choose certain scents that are soothing and relaxing for you. For me many times it is between lavender, patchouli, or mint. This is a natural air freshener, that you can put it anywhere in the house! I hope this gives you inspiration to try a different way to spruce up your decor in your home. My mine may be basic but you can always add more to the piece for your liking.
